18 June 2010

Larkfleet Groupis providing job opportunities for local young people as part of the government's Future Jobs Fund initiative.

The Future Jobs Fund aims to create jobs for 17-25 year olds who have been out of work for a considerable period of time. Larkfleet Group is working with 'The Healthy Hub' based in Lincoln to provide employment opportunities for young people in Lincolnshire who have been out of work for 26 weeks or more.

There are currently eight young people employed by the Healthy Hub placed in jobs within the Larkfleet Group or its sub-contractors. They will receive training and support from the Healthy Hub and Larkfleet as part of their employment, enhancing their skills and experience levels for the future.

Three employees are in office based roles - one in research and two in administration - and the other five young people are working with Larkfleet Group's sub-contractors on development sites across the county. They include two painters, two ground workers and one timber frame manufacturer.

Larkfleet will support the employment of the eight Future Jobs Fund employees for six months. After this time, the company is committed to trying to keep as many as possible in full time, permanent employment.

All eight employees are from the South Lincolnshire area, from towns such as Stamford, Bourne and Boston.

Duncan Smith, investment director of Larkfleet Group, commented: "The Healthy Hub and the Larkfleet Group are delighted to be giving young people in the local area a chance to get back to work.

"I am very pleased with the progress they have all made so far. Their training is going very well and I look forward to identifying permanent employment for them with the group or its sub-contractors, if possible, when the six month placement is over."
