FE Peacock to build affordable homes in March
21 April 2010
FE Peacockwill work on a development of eleven new affordable properties on Smiths Chase in March, Cambridgeshire.
The development will be built for Roddons Housing Association, part of Circle Anglia, one of the country's leading providers of affordable housing.
FE Peacock will provide 5 two-bedroom, three person homes; 3 two-bedroom, four person homes and 3 three-bedroom, five person homes.
All properties will be available at affordable rent from Roddons Housing Association.
FE Peacock has a strong reputation for building affordable homes that are also highly energy efficient. The properties at Smiths Chase will all be constructed from timber frames manufactured and built by Kestrel Timber Frame, another member of the Larkfleet Group.
The timber frame construction methods allow homes to be constructed over much shorter time periods. The timber is sourced from sustainable forests.
The properties constructed by FE Peacock will meet the Code for Sustainable Homes level 3, some 25 per cent above the national minimum energy efficiency standards for homes according to building regulations.
Darren Blake, development manager at Roddons Housing Association, said: "Roddons Housing Association is working hard to open up new housing developments to provide much needed affordable housing. I am pleased to be working with FE Peacock which has a vast amount of experience and expertise in building environmentally friendly, affordable homes. I look forward to seeing the completed properties."
FE Peacock managing director Karl Hick, commented: "These properties will provide much needed affordable housing in the area and we are very pleased to be involved in providing this for local people. The properties will be built to a high environmental standard which will benefit the residents for years to come."
The properties are due to be completed in early 2011.
