Larkfleet sponsor Boys Mini Rugby Tour
23 March 2010
Larkfleet Homes has sponsored a mini rugby tour for young players from Oakham RFC.
The tour involved 78 boys from the Under 9 to Under 12 age groups at Oakham rugby club travelling to Telford Hornets rugby ground for a weekend of rugby and other outdoor activities.
With the help of Larkfleet Homes, each boy on the tour received a personalised black long sleeved rugby top with amber collar and cuffs as a lasting memento of the tour.
The tour was organised by Neil Oakey who commented: "I am delighted that Larkfleet Homes agreed to sponsor this tour as generous contributions such as this make the tour possible. Everyone involved in this year's tour had a fantastic time and we hope to do it again next year."
Karl Hick, managing director of Larkfleet Homes, said, "It was a pleasure to sponsor this mini rugby tour for the young Oakham players. I hope they all had fun whilst learning new rugby skills for the future."
The tour was also sponsored by MITIE Scotgate Ltd of Deeping St James.
Development company Hawksmead, also part of the Larkfleet Group, has recently submitted a planning application to Rutland County Council requesting permission to build a major extension to the town of Oakham.
Part of the proposed development for Oakham North includes new improved facilities for the town's rugby and other sporting clubs.
The development could also provide up to 1,100 new homes, new shopping facilities, offices, parks and open spaces, children's play areas and a new local centre on land between the existing town and the new bypass.
